For some oversized abnormal loads an escort vehicle will be required to accompany the load to ensure the road ahead can accommodate the oversized dimensions and lead the truck on an authorised route set out on the Movement Order authorised by the local authorities i.e. police authorities, council, bridges etc.
The key role of any escort vehicle is to forewarn any other road uses/public of the oncoming abnormal vehicle.
The escort vehicle shall alert the truck driver of any obstructions ahead, ensuring a rapid and safe passage to its destination.
